NT Budget

The Territory Government is delivering quality and affordable education and training for a Smart Territory.  Budget 2012 delivers a record $950 million for schools, quality teachers and training to help more Territorians into jobs. Budget 2012 supports over 3000 teaching staff in schools across the Territory, an increase of over 465 teachers since 2001.

To ensure Territorians are able to benefit from upcoming major projects, $100 million is allocated to training to grow our own workforce. Since 2005 more than 20 000 Territorians have taken up apprenticeships or traineeships. Read more

FaFT celebrates National Families Week

FaFT videos

Families as First Teachers program works with families with young children before school entry in remote communities to give their child the best start in life. Over 1700 Indigenous families are involved in early learning, parenting support, literacy and numeracy and transition to school programs. Families learn about child development, early learning, positive parenting practices, health, hygiene and nutrition. Smart Schools Awards

The Smart Schools Awards celebrate excellence in education, showcasing the quality and achievements of government schools across the Territory. There are numerous categories that schools can apply for. The awards are open to all NT Government schools. The winning schools will be announced on 20 October at the Darwin Convention Centre.

Under the Northern Territory Education Act, it is compulsory for all Territory students to complete Year 10 and then participate in education, training or employment until they turn 17.
